Superdock pilot launched, May 2021

Bergen-based Nordic Circles and NORCE launch Norway's first underwater fishing hotel, in the form of a specially designed quay front. The "hotel" has attracted international interest from around the world, not least because it is made of the car deck of an obsolete ferry. The recent innovation reduces climate emissions while promoting underwater life.

With its dual function, the new quay front has been named SuperDocks. The luxury hotel for fish who thrive by the pier, has been researched at NORCE in Bergen and produced by the car deck from the old Askøy ferry “Melderskin”.

The new fish hotel was launched May 2021, at the Bergen Aquarium, where the effects on the fish will be carefully monitored and studied by the researchers at the research institute NORCE. The next step is a large-scale production, with the goal of being able to deliver the Bergen-produced steel product to ports around the world.
